books?
I don't know if any of you remember me, but a couple months ago I was asking around to find a barn in the Pittsburgh area to ride at while I'm at school...

Anyway, I started riding at ROMRA, and I'm loving it a lot. So far I've only had two lessons (damn, I wish I wasn't poor and busy...) but I guess I've only had crappy trainers before, because I'm learning so much! So thanks for the recommendations, it is so good!

Now I have another question. I picked up the book "The Complete Training of Horse and Rider" by Alois Podhajsky and I've been reading it for about a week or so. It's madly excellent, especially since I knew nothing about dressage a month ago....

So now I'm looking for more books. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks a lot!

Yay I'm glad you found lessons :) Heh I wish I could afford ROMRA. HAve you met Robert yet? I'd love to lesson with him sometime.

Centered Riding by umm I think Sally Swift is very very good.

i've met robert in passing but not formally. he is totally badass.

romra varies in price by instructor; i think a lesson with robert is like $50/half hour but mine is with a different instructor and is only $30.. it's still a lot but it's totally worth it.

and thanks for the recommendation, i'm looking it up now!

do you know anything about their working student programs? like do they take just anyone or is it super hard to get into? heh i wonder how much it'll cost since i won't need to live there.

but im a fat ass so they probably wouldn't take me even though i've ridden my whole life and even went to college (for a bit) for horses. maybe if i get skinny in the next year or so i'll apply.

is yours 30 for a private? or is it group or semi private?

i don't know much about their working student programs at all, except that they are pretty intense.. they definitely wouldn't turn you away for stupid shit like that, that's silly. everyone there is super nice, you should just call and ask!

and yeah, my lesson is private. sometimes there are other people in the ring, but my trainer only has me at once.

if you'd like, i could probably find out some information about the working student program for you. my instructor worked for him for quite some time. she actually bought a horse from him not too long ago as well.
